Toyota is challenging the accounts of a motorist whose Prius sped out of control last week in San Diego, calling his reports of the incident “inconsistent” with the initial findings of the company. Toyota released the results after two days of testing on a 2008 Prius hybrid that sped out of control last week in California, and it maintained that the car's brakes and throttle functioned properly. The now-infamous incident occurred on March 8, when a Prius driven by James Sikes was reported in a 911 call to be speeding uncontrollably.
The Michelin Challenge Design exhibit at the 2009 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) will feature 11 scale models and 24 two-dimensional drawings selected by a jury of top automotive designers. In the weeks leading up to NAIAS, Michelin Challenge Design will be profiling some of the selected participants and their work. One such participant is Zsolt Tarnok, whose 'Concept SsS' represents a new icon for America, combining design cues and traditions from the past with ultra-modern technology.
The Buick Verano Turbo sedan will sticker at $29,990, including the $885 shipping charge, when it hits dealerships this fall. The Verano Turbo will use the same four-cylinder as the Buick Regal GS sedan but makes a shade less power at 250 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.
